In times like these many people are looking for ways to save money.
Below is a list of ways you might be able to save money on your current home insurance policy:
1. Increase your deductible
2. Security alarm system
3. Review coverages to make certain you are not over insured
A. Dwelling amount on the home should not include land value
4. Are you getting a discount for smoke alarms, fire extinguishers and deadbolts?
5. Is your fire protection class correct?
A. Your Fire Marshall will be able to tell you what your fire protection class is
a. The lower the number the better
b. This changes as fire dept. change and/or fire hydrants get added to neighborhoods
6. Some companies are very lenient on less that perfect credit and some are not.
A. If you have less than perfect credit you might be able to get a better rate with a company that doesn't increase rates because of credit.
7. Some companies charge more for prior claims and some do not.
A. If you have a claims history you might be able to get a better rate with a company that doesn't increase rates because of prior claims.
